The Wallaby Dreaming is perfect for those seeking more than the icons of the Red Centre including Uluru, Kata Tjuta and Watarrka. Travelling by 4WD spend a day in the West MacDonnell Ranges where you will hike, swim and explore the ancient landscape in this peaceful and relaxed part of the Australian Outback.

• Permanent Campsites - have permanently erected tents (multi-share), permanent cooking facilities and purpose-built fire pits, screened eating areas, share showers and toilets. Tents are generally 2 share in the Top End and generally twin share in the red centre and passengers supplied with these original Australian bushman's swags. Campsites share showers & toilets.

4WD   © Our 4WD’s (14-16 seaters) have spacious cabs with ample legroom and forward facing seats for increased comfort and a view for appreciation of the scenery. This graphics is similar but not the same as your vehicle.

Level 2 fitness  © Maximum Walks: Hikes up to 6-8kms per day. A reasonable level of fitness is required as there will be some walking to view places of interest. Suitable for soft adventures with a passion for bushwalking and exploring. Passengers must be fit and active.

Booked and paid E-Ticket, Torch, wide brimmed hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, water bottle (1.5 litres), walking shoes/boots, sleeping bag (if you prefer to use your own), toiletries, swim wear, towel, camera, comfortable and casual clothing for 4 days.

• Due to limited space on the vehicle please restrict luggage to a day pack and one soft overnight bag/backpack (maximum 10kg). Excess luggage should be stored at your Alice Springs accommodation.

Itinerary: day by day

Day 1 (Lunch / Dinner)
After picking you up from your accommodation in Alice Springs bright and early, we hit the road for four fantastic days of adventure and fun. (For those commencing at Uluru, we will collect you from the Outback Pioneer Hotel or the airport). On our way to Uluru - Kata Tjuta National Park with a few stops along the way for refreshments, a camel ride (own expense) or a chance to purchase some Aboriginal paintings or artifacts. The afternoon is devoted to enjoying the sites of Uluru, including a visit to the Cultural Centre where you can learn about the Tjukurpa (Aboriginal law/religion), a full base walk or a chance to climb (weather permitting) should you choose. (Note: Uluru is a sacred site and Anangu, the indigenous custodians, respectfully ask visitors not to climb it. It's then time to view the magnificent sunset on Uluru accompanied with a glass or two of sparkling wine before returning to the campsite for a delicious meal, a couple of drinks and time to sit back to contemplate the day's events.

Day 2 (Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner)
After watching the sunrise over Uluru and Kata Tjuta from a lookout close to our campsite, it's breakfast and then off to Kata Tjuta for a 7km hike through the magnificent "Valley of the Winds". After a leisurely lunch we head to Curtin Springs Cattle Station with plenty of time to get a close look at a typical working cattle station before we travel to Kings Creek Station for our second nights bush camp. Our private campsite at Kings Creek is miles from the crowds, which is where the feeling of 'wayoutback' really starts to take hold. After a campfire dinner it's time to kick back and be mesmerised by the millions of stars on display.

Day 3 (Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner)
This morning take a guided walk to see the towering walls, crevices and plateaus of Watarrka (Kings Canyon). Visit the Amphitheatre, Lost City and the tranquil 'Garden of Eden'. After Watarrka we 4WD along the famous Mereenie Loop Road where you will be shaken and not stirred! Look out for wildlife along the way before arriving at our permanent camp at Glen Helen, nearby the stunning waterhole that the Traditional owners of this land believe is home to an ancient and powerful Rainbow Serpent.

Day 4 (Breakfast / Lunch)
Spend today exploring the mighty West MacDonnell Ranges. Travel off road to Ormiston Gorge, keep your eyes peeled for Perentie Lizards lazing along the banks and take a swim in the rock holes. Hike the "Ghost Gum Walk" before travelling back to Alice Springs stopping along the way and returning to your accommodation approximately 5.30pm. After returning to civilisation, a hot shower awaits before joining your fellow travellers for a farewell meal, laugh and few cold ales.
